SALT LAKE CITY (April 29, 2025) — The Utah Transit Authority will conduct essential maintenance projects on all TRAX light rail lines between May and October. In addition to some expected service delays, drivers and pedestrians can expect temporary changes related to traffic impacts in the project areas.
UTA’s summer 2025 construction focuses on infrastructure maintenance and system improvements for TRAX Light Rail, which has been in place for 25 years. The critical updates will increase overall on-time performance, improve ride quality and safety, and extend the life of existing equipment like power lines and rail cars. The projects are part of UTA’s TRAX Forward program to modernize the existing system and make improvements that will allow for future expansion.
Construction projects are sequenced to minimize service disruptions. When TRAX service is temporarily unavailable, passengers will be transported by a planned “bus bridge” between light rail stations. Drivers can expect altered traffic patterns in work zones, including lane shifts and closures.
